Previously known as Fort Sanders West Diagnostic Center, we have a new name and a new look! Now known as Covenant Health Diagnostics, the center has been remodeled to provide a comfortable, updated setting for patients to receive comprehensive diagnostic and imaging services.
Covenant Health Diagnostics was designed with our commitment to excellent patient care in mind. The center features state-of-the-art equipment to ensure the highest quality imaging services, including new CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, and mammography technology.

Preparing for Your Visit
Preparation
Your doctor should provide procedure-specific preparation instructions for you to follow prior to your test. Our technologists can also provide this information to you.
Convenience
Don’t expect to wait for your test. You will be taken care of at the time you were scheduled. And when it’s time to go, we’ll file your insurance for you. Plus, parking is free and close to our doors, and you can use the patient drop-off, pick-up area.

You can count on fast results – most in one day. Our special reporting system allows us to quickly get results to your doctor, and that means you hear news as soon as possible.

Imaging Services
Bone Density (DEXA): a bone density test is used to measure bone mineral content and density. This measurement tells whether there is decreased bone mass. This is a condition in which bones are more brittle and prone to break or fracture easily.
Commonly used for:
- Axial skeleton
- Appendicular skeleton
- Vertebral fracture assessment (VFA)
Cardiac imaging: non-invasive imaging of the heart and its movement and structures
Commonly used for:
CT: computed tomography (CT or CAT scan) is an imaging test that makes detailed images of the body. A CT scan shows details of the bones, muscles, fat, and organs.
Commonly used for:
- Abdomen and pelvis
- Angiography (CTA)
- Brain
- Calcium scoring
- Chest
- Joints and extremities
- Spine

We offer Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening to help discover lung cancer earlier when it’s easier to treat. It’s our commitment to the community to provide this screening service at the highest clinical and quality standards set forth by the American College of Radiology so that it’s safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer. That’s why we strive to meet the ACR standards and maintain this important designation.
Fluoroscopy: looks at moving body structures, including the skeletal, digestive, urinary, cardiovascular, respiratory, and reproductive systems
Commonly used for:
- Arthrography
- Barium enemas (single and air contrast)
- Hysterosalpingography (HSG)
- Small bowel
- Upper GI and barium swallow
Mammogram (diagnostic, digital 2D screening, and digital 3D screening): an X-ray image of your breast used to find and diagnose breast disease. A mammogram may be done if you have breast problems such as a lump, pain, or nipple discharge. A mammogram is also done as a screening test if you don’t have breast problems. It can check for breast cancers, noncancerous or benign tumors, and cysts before they can be felt.
Commonly used for
- 2D and 3D imaging, screening, and diagnostic
- Stereotactic breast biopsy
MRI: this medical imaging forms 2D images of the body
Commonly used for:
- Angiography (MRA)
- Abdomen and pelvis
- Brain and spine (neurology studies)
- Breast
- Ear, nose, and throat studies (soft tissue neck, TMJ, etc.)
- Joints and extremities
- Prostate
Ultrasound: a procedure used to assess the organs and structures within a specified part of the body. Ultrasound may also be used to assess blood flow to organs.
Commonly used for:
- Abdomen, pelvis, and transvaginal
- Ankle/brachial index (ABI)
- Arterial and venous doppler
- Breast
- Carotid
- First trimester pregnancy
- Small areas (i.e. soft tissue nodules)
- Thyroid
- US guided breast biopsy
X-ray: made by using external radiation to produce images of the body, its organs, and other internal structures for diagnostic purposes.
Commonly used for:
- All routine radiographic procedures, with the exception of long-length scoliosis studies
Discontinuation of Lab Services
Please note: Covenant Health Diagnostics is designated as an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility. As an IDTF, we can no longer provide outpatient general lab and phlebotomy services.
Effective January 3, 2022, lab and phlebotomy services will not be offered at Covenant Health Diagnostics. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. These services will still be available at other Covenant Health locations.
